There are a variety of different psychology clinics throughout the city of Melbourne and the surrounding areas – it’s sometimes hard to know which clinic is best for you. This way, you have the best chance of selecting a clinic that is suited to helping you with your particular problems. The following UGA bus routes have a designated stop right outside of the Psychology building: North/South, Orbit, East/West, and East Campus Express. The Psychology Clinic is located in the basement of the Cammack Building room 005, at the corner of University Dr. and Lancaster Ave. on the EKU campus. The UNSW Kensington Campus is serviced regularly by buses. In this training clinic, advanced graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program offer a wide variety of treatment approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and family systems psychotherapy. Experiences and skill development opportunities that prepare students to be scientist-practitioners begin early in the graduate career. As this is primarily a training clinic, therapy is typically restricted to four months duration and graduate students end their placement here in June. Given our status as a small training clinic, the number of openings we have for assessment and treatment services can fluctuate over time. After completing the required training in the Psychology Clinic, students typically pursue more specialized training relevant to their research interests in one or more specialty externships. The lab functions as a centre for clinical research to support study. The clinic is also actively involved in treatment research trials that the general public may become involved in if they choose. Additional services are available for treatment of eating disorders, smoking, high blood pressure, and other health related problems. In situations of a mental health crisis, clients are to seek crisis emergency services from our local mental health crisis intervention programs. Hybrid in-person and telehealth assessment services are available with stringent COVID-19 precautions (more information available in the tab on the left).
